The calendar may have indicated December; the temperature may have suggested winter, but the profusion of Jaguars at the Jaguar Breakfast Club told a different story. The December meet saw ice-blue skies and more than one hundred Jaguars on display at the British Motor Museum for a grand end of year finale. I won’t say end of season finale, because our season never ends!

A chilly but dry November day saw a spirited gathering of over 150 cars at the Jaguar Breakfast Club, proving just how popular these meets are, despite the encroaching winter temperatures.

The October Jaguar Breakfast Club took place on a Sunday rather than the customary Saturday and what a fortuitous move it was, as the Saturday was subject to constant downpours whilst Sunday basked in sunshine!
Despite the haphazard fuel situation around 140 Jaguars saved enough juice to make the trip to Gaydon and were rewarded by an extraordinary turn out of Classic Jaguars, including an impressive line of 1960s ‘compact Jaguars’ displayed by the Jaguar Drivers’ Club. In addition, an internationally organized drive to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the C-type was specifically arranged to coincide with our meet and attracted both originals and replicas.

For the September Jaguar Breakfast Club we joined forces with the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust to stage “Jaguars at Gaydon” the largest-ever breakfast meet so far held at the British Motor Museum, although breakfast came and went as the event continued in full swing until 4pm!
Over 750 Jaguars arrived to enjoy the day including an incredible 500 modern XKs that created a magnificent display to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the model.
“Jaguars at Gaydon” welcomed all models and that’s certainly what was seen with classic and modern Jaguars in equal abundance, including fifty XJS’s for the XJs Club’s National Day, which formed an impressive line spanning the grass bank above the main show arena.
The show arena saw XKs with interesting stories and the JDHT brought out some rarely seen XKs from their collection along with cars across the eras to remember Sir William Lyons whose 120th birthday coincided with the day of the event. A huge cake was baked specially for the occasion and devoured with delight by all who visited the JDHT stand.
There was musical entertainment throughout the day performed by the trio My Favourite Things who had feet tapping with a selection of vintage hits from Sir William Lyons’ golden age of SS cars and Jaguar.

JLR Classic Works opened its doors to the Jaguar Breakfast Club for its first major public event in two years. Well over two hundred people enjoyed a fascinating tour through this hugely impressive facility with its beautifully presented showroom vehicles, a spotless workshop the size of a cathedral and a private vehicle collection comprising every model from Jaguar’s illustrious history.
Outside the building our own Jaguars took centre stage with an impressively varied display. The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust kindly brought along Sir William Lyons’ personal Mark X from 1961 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the model and devotees of the XJ40 were treated to a stunning line-up of this distinguished Jaguar, which also marked 35 years since the car first rolled off the production line.

A dive in the summer weather predicted a damp July Breakfast Club gathering but around two hundred Jaguars defied the forecast to be rewarded with steadily improving skies during the morning. The variety on show was astonishing ranging from a 1950 Mark V, through XJ220 and a prototype XJ40 to the present day, which provided a comprehensive contrast to the featured display saluting 20 years of the X-Type. There were over forty X-Types jostling for the limelight on the grassy apron fronting the British Motor Museum, including the unique Supercharged developmental car owned by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust. The JDHT also donated a “Trust Trophy” for their favourite X-Type in the display, awarded to a hard-working Emerald Green 2-litre diesel facelift model with 97k on the clock and currently undergoing a rolling return to showroom splendour.

Despite our June meet taking place just two weeks after our previous May gathering it was another heavyweight turnout on a day blessed by blue skies and huge smiles. We chose to make a fuss of the XE model, for no other reason than to give them their turn in the limelight and some 40 XEs were displayed across the lawns, perhaps the largest ever assembly of this much praised modern, compact Jaguar. Even former Jaguar Design Chief Ian Callum came along to admire his handiwork!

After almost eight months in lockdown our Jaguars assembled as soon as restrictions permitted for a glorious release from confinement. Despite a damp start an incredible 350 Jaguars arrived to create our largest ever turnout for a “standard” meet, although standard was hardly an accurate description!
We also took in two of this year’s anniversaries with special displays of both V8s and V12s whose Jaguar engines are celebrating 25 and 50 years respectively.
It was great to be back!
